Speaking of financing companies in the context of micro, small and medium enterprises certain advantages and disadvantages are noticeable compared to financing large enterprises. Micro, small and medium enterprises have less property than large enterprises, which in turn represents certain risks for creditors in collecting their claims, putting these types of companies at a disadvantage compared to large enterprises. On the other hand, the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises in the economy provide various benefits and incentives from the government and multinational organizations. This paper examines the sources of funding and their availability to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. In this paper, funding sources are categorized into personal sources, outside sources and alternative sources; and divided into these categories according to different criteria. The importance of knowing the sources of funding and their timely implementation is the difference between successful and unsuccessful companies and business ventures, which is illustrated by the example of xCraft. xCraft is a company that raised capital through alternative sources of funding, which would not never have been approved by any bank or financial institution, regarding the company’s assets. xCraft collected the necessary funds through several crowdfunding campaigns and the globally popular TV show "Shark Tank". The "Shark Tank" entrepreneurs present their companies and business ventures to a group of five business angels who then evaluate their companies and make decisions on investment. The biggest advantage of Shark Tank and crowdfunding campaigns is the media coverage which the company achieves, significantly increasing the chances of further funding.
