The subject matter of the diploma thesis is reflected in determining the current state of cycling tourism in the Virovitica-Podravina County, based on a comparison of the cities of Virovitica and Slatina. For the purpose of a clearer understanding of the mentioned topic, the semantic characteristics of modern tourist demand in the context of sports and recreational tourism as a specific niche of tourism will be explained in the introduction. In the continuation of the thesis, attention will be drawn to cyclotourism, which is the primary subject of study of the thesis, and therefore it will be terminologically processed in parallel with related terms such as cyclotourist, cycling tourism infrastructure, etc. Furthermore, special emphasis before the empirical part of the research will be placed on the climate of Virovitica-Podravina County with reference to the existing cycling situation in the cities of Virovitica and Slatina. In order to determine the correctness of the previously stated theoretical determinations for the purposes of this thesis, a scientific research will be conducted using a survey questionnaire. The researched doctrine is titled as Possibilities of valorization of tourist potentials of Virovitica-Podravina County on the basis of cycling tourism infrastructure in the context of the comparison of the cities of Virovitica and Slatina. Considering the topic and climate of the research, the examined population consists of persons who have a permanent residence or live in the area of Virovitica-Podravina County. The presented quantitative and qualitative theoretical data and the results obtained by scientific research can serve as secondary sources of data for various tourism stakeholders, cyclists, cycling clubs, specialized providers of cycling services, etc. In addition, the paper can be used as a basis for further research in the context of cycling tourism that would contribute to its overall progress.
